Ancala

Ancala is a gated community of luxury homes, situated at the base of the McDowell Mountains.  Located just north of Via Linda and west of Scottsdale Ranch, this golf community has a key-code gate to the community, and individual neighborhoods of homes within the larger community.  Some of these are also guard-gated.  Built by Golden Heritage in 1991, Ancala has 542 custom homes as well as 42 casita homes.  These homes and casitas start around 2,000 square feet and range upwards of 8,000 square feet.

The Ancala Country club is the crown jewel of the community, and is home to an 18-hole Dye designed championship golf course.  The Club also has a restaurant, a tennis court, as well as a pool and fitness center, which is home to several daily group fitness classes.  Ancala also has a community park, the eponymous Ancala Park, which boasts a grassy play area and play equipment, as well as a basketball court.  The Ancala Homeowner’s Association has a monthly fee, which includes common area maintenance, the security gate, as well as the guard gate for particular neighborhoods.

McDowell Mountain Regional Park is just to the west offers over 40-miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails.  The Via Linda Senior Center is located nearby on Via Linda, next to Scottsdale Ranch.  This center is a City of Scottsdale facility open to those 18 and over, and also offers a multitude of entertainment options, including classes in arts and crafts and computers as well as a gym.

The Scottsdale School District serves Ancala, with nearby Anasazi Elementary, Mountainside Middle School as well as Desert Mountain High School.  All are A rated schools.  The highly-rated private school, Basis Scottsdale, is also located nearby.   There are several shopping options nearby, including the Ancala Village Shopping Center, Scottsdale Quarter, Kierland Commons, as well as Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall.
